The so-called Congressional “Super Committee” is in its final push to find $1.2 trillion in savings. The Committee is under enormous pressure from Washington insiders to raise your taxes. Washington doesn’t have an under-taxing problem—it has an over-spending problem. Uncle Sam already takes too much of your money in taxes, and it wastes this money on stimulus projects and crony capitalist bailouts. Washington, DC needs to go on a diet. We need your help to tell the Super Committee not to raise any taxes.
Taxpayers have been fooled before. In 1982, President Reagan was promised $3 in spending cuts for every $1 in tax hikes. In 1990, President George H.W. Bush broke his “read my lips” pledge by agreeing to $2 in spending cuts for every $1 in tax hikes. In each case, the spending cuts never materialized—not a penny. But the tax hikes went into effect, and we’re still living with them today. Any “deal” agreed to by the Super Committee would simply be a third cruel joke on taxpayers.
It’s not too late to act. Tell your Congressman and Senators that they should oppose any Super Committee plan that raises taxes.
