The Left\\\’s Favorite Word for Republican Nominees: "No"
The ultra-liberal People for the American Way, known for out-of-the-mainstream tactics, will say “No way”, to any Supreme Court nomination by a Republican President. During the confirmation of Justice David Souter, People for the American Way said they were “convinced that this nominee will not protect the rights of those suffering discrimination on the basis of race, gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or illiteracy.” And Souter would threaten the progress made by minorities, disadvantaged groups, women and dissenters, said PFAW.
These over the top accusations bore absolutely no resemblance to Souter’s history and judicial record. Today, these extreme Left groups have no qualms on Souter’s judicial rulings.
Senator Kennedy, always proud to take up the extreme Left’s cause, followed up on this scurrilous attack by saying, “If Judge Souter joins the current closely divided Supreme Court, he will solidify a 5-4 anti-civil rights, anti-privacy majority inclined to turn back the clock on the historic progress of recent decades. If so, literally millions of our fellow citizens will be denied their rights as an Americans to equal opportunity and equal justice under the law.”
With the current outrageous accusations being thrown at Judge Roberts, fact-checking appears to be no part of the Left’s modus operandi. This is especially true when looking at the Left’s history of defamatory attacks on past Republican Supreme Court nominees, with no regard for the facts.
Americans for Tax Reform has called on the Senate to meet its constitutional obligations and ensure a speedy confirmation process with an up or down vote on all judicial nominees.
