Ralph Norman Signs the Taxpayer Protection Pledge to the American People

Ralph Norman (R-SC), candidate for Congress in South Carolina’s 5^th Congressional District, has signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge to the American people. The Pledge is a written commitment to the citizens of South Carolina and to the American people to oppose all tax increases. Norman is running in a special election to replace Mick Mulvaney who was tapped to lead the United States Office of Management and Budget.

Norman’s career has spanned both in government and the private sector. As a life-long resident of South Carolina’s 5th district, Norman started his career helping to build his father’s property and construction business. In 2004, Norman was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives, representing district 48.

“The American people are tired of the tax-and-spend policies coming from Washington and they are looking for solutions that create jobs, cut government spending, and get the economy going again. Signing the Pledge is the first step in that process,” said Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform.

The Taxpayer Protection Pledge has been offered to every candidate for federal office since 1986. In the 115th Congress, 208 Congressmen and 45 Senators have signed the Pledge.

“We are ecstatic about Mr. Norman’s commitment to the taxpayers of South Carolina. I challenge all candidates for South Carolina’s 5^th Congressional District to make the same commitment to taxpayers by signing the Taxpayer Protection Pledge today,” continued Norquist.

Ralph Norman will run in South Carolina’s 5^th Congressional District Primary on May 2^nd.
