Yesterday, Governor Bobby Jindal (R-La.) proposed his alternative to Obamacare, The Freedom and Empowerment Plan: The Prescription for Conservative Consumer-Focused Health Reform. Jindal’s commendable plan addresses the challenges facing the U.S. healthcare system with smart, innovative, patient-centered, and market-based reforms. Though the White House & Congressional Democrats continue to be dishonest with the American people by claiming that Republicans have proposed no alternatives to Obamacare (in fact, many are in bill format and can be pulled up online with a few clicks of the mouse), Jindal’s is actually the latest proposal to debunk that canard.

Senator Mary Landrieu (D-La.), was quick to slam Jindal’s plan, which, like Obamacare, she has very likely not even read. Landrieu’s criticism is even more galling coming from the senator who cast the deciding vote for Obamacare, a legislative monstrosity that imposed 20 new or higher taxes, is causing premiums to soar, and has kicked millions of Americans off the health insurance plans that they liked, but can no longer keep, despite being assured by President Obama and Senator Landrieu that they could.

Some people who throw stones live in glass houses, but Senator Landrieu lives in a glass mansion when it comes to health care given that she is the senator that saddled America with Obamacare. And it is for that reason that Landrieu should be the former senator from Louisiana after November.
