Update: Sen. Graham has become frustrated with Democrat leadership…but the fight is not over yet. Sen. Kerry is continuing to pressure the Republican to support a massive energy tax. Sign this petition today!

Soon, Senators John Kerry (D-Mass), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), and Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.) will introduce a bill that seeks to raise taxes, limit American energy production, kill American jobs, and increase the cost that you and your family pay for your family’s car rides – be it to the grocery store, sports practice, your commute to work or family vacations.

These senators are looking to appease big business by taxing you every time you fill up at the pump.  This is an attempt at imposing a national gas tax; make no mistake about it.

This bill forces the unrealistic goal of an 80 percent emission reduction in only 40 years, which will cost millions of Americans jobs and create an unrealistic goal of forcing every auto manufacturer to produce cars that get 35.5 mpg by 2016.

It would increase gasoline prices an average of 27 cents per gallon from 2013 to 2020.

Can you and your family afford this unnecessary cost?

Sign the petition below and ATR will hand-deliver your names to the US House and US Senate, letting members know you strongly stand against this national energy tax.

Dear member of Congress:

I urge you to vote against any attempt at a national energy tax – including the bill put forth by Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), and Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.).

In the middle of a recession, the last thing our representatives in Washington should be doing is pursuing a tax hike of any kind. The goal of forcing an 80 percent emission reduction in 40 years is an unrealistic goal and puts us at a competitive disadvantage against countries like India and China.

My family simply cannot afford this additional financial burden.

Again, I ask you to vote against a national gas tax.

Thank you,
