Pawlenty to Discuss Veto of $6.6 Billion Tax Hike and the Legislature’s Failure to Sustain It
Minn. Governor guest on Leave Us Alone Show today with Grover Norquist

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform and host of the monthly “Leave Us Alone” radio show, will interview Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R-Minn.) about his veto of a $6.6 billion transportation spending plan in Minnesota. The show airs on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. EST.  Listeners can hear the show live and repeated throughout the day on www.rightalk.com.

Gov. Pawlenty stood up for Minnesota taxpayers by vetoing a package that included an 8.5 cent gas tax increase, new licensing fees for vehicles, and a sales tax increase on all counties in the metropolitan area.

Unfortunately, the legislature subsequently voted to override the governor’s veto, with six House and two Senate Republicans joining the DFL majorities.

“Gov. Pawlenty’s veto of this horrendous tax hike bill sent a message loud and clear to Minnesota taxpayers- he gets it,” said Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform. “The same cannot be said for the DFL – led legislature, leaving Minnesota taxpayers to foot the bill.”
