Today, Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist was a guest on Fox Business Network’s Varney and Co. and said that Elizabeth Warren’s carbon tax will turn into a value added tax.
Grover Norquist: “She’ll do two things. She’ll say, look over here, I’m gonna have a wealth tax. So and then while you do that, she’ll put in a carbon tax and energy tax, which hits the middle class. And that turns into a VAT, because at the end of the day, you’re not going to just tax energy.”
Norquist continued and said that a VAT only encourages more government and higher taxes.
“Every European country that adopted a VAT saw all of its taxes increased more rapidly after that than before. So just makes the government bigger and stronger and more hungry,” Norquist said.
Warren said she was in favor of a carbon tax during a CNN “Climate Crisis” town hall on Sept. 3.

Elizabeth Warren: “Yes.”
In addition, she also supports a “climate adjustment fee” which will tax companies importing products into the United States based on “How much carbon was used to produce” it, according to Warren.
