Nestled away in reporting of a recent Federal Trade Commission two-day "workshop" on the future of journalism was a rather bizzare comment by FTC Chairman Jon Leibowitz

According to the Wall Street Journal, "Mr. Leibowitz said other ideas include extending government subsidies to commercial news organizations".

It seems clear that the Administration is laying the groundwork to bailout mainstream media organinzations, whose partisan hackery and refusal to cover anything critical of the left, has led to readers deserting them in droves. Even more insiduous is the suggestion by some that there ought be a government-run media body created.

This seems definatly an issue to watch.
