KEY VOTE: ATR Urges “NO” Vote on Daines Single Payer Amdt to Senate Health Bill
Americans for Tax Reform WILL RATE a vote on Daines Amendment 340 to create a single payer healthcare system
ATR urges a NO vote
The U.S. Senate is currently considering numerous amendments to their healthcare reform legislation. One amendment, introduced by Senator Steve Daines (R-Mont.) would implement a single payer healthcare system resulting in rationed care, higher taxes, and more spending.
Voting yes on Daines Amendment 340 is a violation of the taxpayer protection pledge, a written commitment many Senators have made to their constituents to oppose any and all tax increases.
ATR urges all Senators to oppose and vote no on this amendment.
This amendment contains multiple tax increases and new taxes:
-A new excise tax on payroll and self-employment income.
-An income tax increases on certain taxpayers.
-A new tax on investment income.
-A tax on stock and bond transactions.
In addition to these tax increases, this amendment calls for socialist style price controls on healthcare that will result in rationed care and harm consumers, patients, and doctors.
All Senators should vote no on Daines Amendment 340.
