KEY VOTE: ATR Urges NO Vote on Amendments (#1717 and #1848) Striking ANWR from Senate Tax Bill
Senator Maria Cantwell (D-Wash) has introduced amendments (#1717 and #1848) to the Tax Reconciliation Act that would remove a proposal that allows responsible exploration of the non-wilderness portion of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) in Northeast Alaska. ATR urges a NO Vote on both amendments.
Opening up small portions of ANWR (roughly 1/10,000th of the region) for extraction of oil and natural gas will allow the creation of new jobs, and increase wages in the region. It will also increase the nation’s energy independence and security while generating federal revenues from the use of this land. Alaskans overwhelmingly support this proposal.
ATR Urges a NO vote on both amendments.
