Americans for Tax Reform commends Arizona gubernatorial candidates Kari Lake and Karrin Taylor Robson for signing the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, a written commitment to the taxpayer to oppose any and all tax increases.

As Arizona primary voters head to the voting booth, they deserve to know where their candidates stand on crucial issues such as taxes and spending. Candidates often campaign in opposition to higher taxes but disregard these principles once they take office. Fortunately for Arizona voters, Lake and Robson have both made written commitments to oppose all tax hikes.

Americans for Tax Reform offers the Pledge to all candidates for state and federal office. 16 governors and over 1,000 state legislators have signed the Pledge, committing to support and preserve American economic liberty and prosperity in opposing all tax increases.

“Arizona voters are looking for solutions that get Americans back to work and grow the economy. Signing the Taxpayer Protection Pledge and holding the line on taxes is the first step in that process,” said Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform.

Karrin Taylor Robson is a small-business owner with first-hand experience with government overreach and ineptitude. She has advocated against Democrat-sponsored tax hikes and called for lower and flatter taxes for all. Kari Lake has correctly noted that “[progressives’] taxes, regulations, and wasteful spending are driving businesses away at a record pace and preventing new ones from getting off the ground. People are fleeing in droves.” Both candidates have signaled their willingness to fight for economic freedom in the Grand Canyon State and to stem the tide of failed progressive policies. Further, they have both put this commitment in writing.

“I want to congratulate Kari Lake and Karrin Tayor Robson for signing the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, a written commitment to Arizona taxpayers. Arizonans deserve even more of the strong policies and real solutions that create jobs, cut government spending, and that have made Arizona a more attractive place to work, live, and raise a family.” continued Norquist.

The Taxpayer Protection Pledge is a written commitment by an elected official or candidate to the voters of his or her state to oppose any tax increase. Americans for Tax Reform has offered the Pledge to all candidates for federal and state office since 1986.
