2020 Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris finally admitted that Americans will be taken off of their employer-based healthcare plan if her “Medicare for All” scheme is imposed.
Anderson Cooper: “In your plan, eventually, everyone would be taken off of the private plan that their company currently has.”
Kamala Harris: “Yes.”
However, Harris still refuses to admit that “Medicare for All” – de facto government takeover of healthcare — requires a massive middle class tax hike, as Bernie Sanders says is required to pay for the program.
“Yes, [the middle class] will pay more in taxes,” Sanders said during the June Democratic debate on NBC.
Similarly, Elizabeth Warren also refused to openly state on Tuesday night that Medicare for All means more taxes on the middle-class.
As ATR noted earlier, Medicare for All would require anywhere from $32 trillion and $36 trillion in higher taxes over the course of the next decade.
Eric Levitz from The New Yorker even wrote an article stating “Kamala Harris’s Medicare for All Plan Makes No Sense,” and says that Kamala Harris may not even support Bernie Sanders’original bill.
“Harris’s opposition to raising middle-class taxes sends such voters an unambiguous signal that she does not actually support Sanders’s bill.”
