The following statement can be attributed to Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist:

“The only thing standing between Ohioans and a massive gas tax hike is the Senate. Senate President Obhof and Senator McColley deserve credit, and support for their efforts to slash the proposed gas tax hikes and find an offsetting tax cut.

“Ohioans cannot afford to pay higher taxes – especially not the fifth highest gas tax in the nation, as Governor DeWine proposed.

“By supporting gas tax hikes, the Governor and House leadership are telling Ohioans that they think roads and bridges are less of a priority than everything else in the budget. There’s apparently nothing they are willing to cut to secure funding for road repairs.

“The Senate may stand alone against spending interests, the Governor, and House in Columbus, but Ohioans across the state must appreciate having real leadership to defend their wallets.”

Founded in 1985, Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) is a nonprofit group dedicated to advancing lower taxes and limited government.
