In a recent episode of The Daily Show, socialist congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called for a carbon tax. Just like Rep. Carlos Curbelo did earlier this month. Ocasio is a huge supporter of various new taxes and tax hikes to fund her socialist agenda.

She said: “Now if we implement a carbon tax on top of that [all other taxes she suggested before] so that we can transition and financially incentivize people away from fossil fuels, if we implement a carbon tax, that’s an additional amount of, a large amount of revenue that we can have.”

The similarity to Curbelo’s language is remarkable, as he talked about transitioning people by retraining them after they lost their jobs due to the terrible impact of his carbon tax proposal on the economy.

The question Curbelo should ask himself is: Is he in good company with a socialist like Ocasio-Cortez?

Or with veteran American socialist Bernie Sanders, who also calls for a carbon tax:”I believe we should have a tax on carbon and deal aggressively with climate change.” He introduced a bill in the Senate in 2015 proposing a $15 tax per ton of carbon, gradually increasing to $73 in 2035.

See the interview where Cortez also called for rolling back the recent tax cuts by the Trump administration and more, here
