Are you also ‘with Bernie on Medicare for All’ when it comes to raising taxes on middle-class Americans to pay for it.”

Elizabeth Warren: dodge

3. July 30, 2019: Elizabeth Warren dodged the middle class tax question again during the CNN Democratic debate.

Warren: dodge

He’s praised Bernie Sanders about being candid, says that Senator Sanders has been candid about the fact that middle class taxes are going to go up and most of private insurance is going to be eliminated. Will you make that same admission?”

Warren: dodge

8.  September 12, 2019: Elizabeth Warren dodged the question again when pressed if middle class taxes would go up under her plan.

Stephanopoulos: “Direct question. You said middle class families are going to pay less. But will middle class taxes go up to for pay for the program? I know you believe the deductibles and premiums go down.”

Warren: dodge

9.  September 12, 2019: Elizabeth Warren dodged the middle class tax question after being asked after the debate on ABC.

Reporter: “But, just, when you were talking about Medicare for All, the Vice President pressed you on how you were going to pay for this and if you were going to have to tax the middle class to cover Medicare for All. What is the answer to that question? How do we pay for Medicare for All?”

Warren: dodge

Elizabeth Warren: dodge

Colbert: “But will their taxes go up?”

Warren: dodge

Colbert: “No, but here’s the thing. I’ve listened to these answers a few times before, and I just want to make a parallel suggestion for you about how you might defend the taxes that perhaps you’re not mentioning.”

NBC Reporter: “One of the things that a few of your opponents were talking about late last week really, was this idea of middle class taxes and healthcare. So yes or no, should middle class Americans expect their taxes to go up under a Medicare for All system?”

Warren: dodge

NBC Reporter: “But that’s not the same as taxes not going up.”

Warren: dodge

NBC Reporter: “So do you think then that Americans are willing to pay a little bit more in taxes if in generally the household costs are going down on healthcare?”

Warren: dodge

MSNBC’s Chris Hayes: “I get that you do not recognize some metaphysical distinction between the part of your paycheck that comes out for the premium, the part that comes out for payroll taxes. Doesn’t matter. It’s still coming out of the paycheck, cost is what matters. That said, anytime I watch a politician say the same thing four times in a row, I feel like some ball is being hidden from me. Right? Like, do you understand. Is the idea that you don’t want to give a line for an attack ad?”

Warren: dodge

John King: “But isn’t it a fact that the Bernie Sanders Medicare for all plan which as of this moment you are on board with right? It says quite specifically middle class taxes will go up. Correct?”

Warren: dodge

King: “If middle class taxes and your Medicare for all plan went up? Well, they say during the campaign, why was she trying to be cute? Why wouldn’t you just say it and then make the argument as Senator Sanders does, but you need to trust me here. Overall, when you take away private insurance, your co-pays your other costs. Your overall costs will go down. But yes, your taxes might go up some.”

Warren: dodge

Gloria Borger: “But can you guarantee that what people might save on the cost of their health insurance would be more than what they might have to pay in additional taxes?”

Elizabeth Warren: dodge

Borger: “But what about the tax part of it? I mean, it fares an equation here.”

Warren: dodge
