While Congress scrambles to finalize legislation before the August recess, Democrat’s Congressional staff are wasting both time and taxpayer money.

Today, Congressional staff members from the offices of Representatives Cori Bush (D-Mo.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), and other radical progressives organized a sit-in protest in Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D-N.Y.) office to demand that Democrats pass far-left climate justice policy before the end of the year.

Not only are these staffers advocating for a socialist nightmare, but they’re doing so while on the taxpayer’s dime. As hardworking Americans suffer from the greatest inflation in four-decades and see declining real wages, these Democrat hill staffers are using their work hours to engage in activism while their salaries are being paid by hardworking taxpayers.

The protest came about after negotiations between Schumer and Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) fell apart this past month when Senator Manchin refused to support the radical climate change proposals being supported as a part of Democrat’s partisan reconciliation package. These staffers flooded the Majority Leader’s office with signs reading “CLIMATE ACTION NOW” and “CLIMATE POLICY NOW”, to pressure Schumer to continuing negotiations with Manchin.

Six of the staff members who attended the protest were arrested by Capitol Police for refusing to leave Senator Schumer’s office. One of the protestors who helped organize the sit-in serves as a climate policy advisor for Representative Cori Bush (D-Mo.). This same Bush staffer also sent a recent letter signed by 165 Democrat staffers urging President Biden and Democrat party leadership to act more aggressively on climate change.

This protest shows just why Congress has a mere 16 percent approval rating when they continue to focus on the wrong issues. While the American public focuses on inflation, gas prices, and other kitchen table economic issues Democrats are focusing on the wrong priorities. Only 1 percent of responders noted climate change as “the biggest concern facing your family right now” in a Monmouth University July 2022 poll yet the Democrats have been focusing on radical climate legislation for months now.

Congressional staff are not paid by taxpayers to obstruct and protest lawmakers. If Democrat staffers want to engage in political stunts rather than do their jobs, then they are welcome to quit and do so while off the taxpayers’ dime.
