cigarette smoke

In an opinion piece published today in The Hill, ATR Fellow Karl Abramson discussed the Biden Administration’s decision to pursue a federal nicotine limit in cigarettes. Abramson explains how this policy can quickly be expected to increase smoking, weaken our national security, and make life more difficult for low-income Americans who smoke cigarettes.

An excerpt can be read below and the full piece can be found here.

“Addiction is not a choice but making life more expensive for people who use tobacco products is a choice. At a time of great economic uncertainty, making survival more difficult for those who are barely hanging on is unwise. The Biden administration is playing politics with our national security and the lives of millions of Americans.”
