WASHINGTON, D.C. – Americans for Tax Reform applauds the pro-taxpayer platform of Attorney General Charlie Crist who is running for the office of governor of Florida.
Attorney General Crist demonstrated his dedication to the taxpayers of Florida by signing the Taxpayer Protection Pledge on June 14, 2005. By signing the Pledge for the office of governor, he commits “to oppose and veto any and all efforts to increase taxes.”
As of today’s date, over 1280 state legislators have signed the Pledge. Six governors, five lieutenant governors, two attorneys general, three secretaries of state, two treasurers, 221 U.S. representatives, 46 U.S. senators, and President George W. Bush are also signers of the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.
“Charlie Crist joins numerous lawmakers and candidates at the state and federal levels who have committed themselves to principles of limited government,” commented Grover Norquist, President of ATR.
“I applaud Attorney General Crist for his commitment to all taxpayers of Florida. I extend the invitation to sign the Pledge to every sitting incumbent and every candidate running for office, in the hopes that more elected officials will dedicate themselves to taxpayers, rather than tax-and- spending.”
ATR offers the Taxpayer Protection Pledge to all candidates seeking office at the state and federal levels, and also to sitting incumbents. To obtain a copy of the Pledge, or to learn more about it, please visit www.atr.org or call Elizabeth Karasmeighan or Sandra Fabry at (202) 785-0266.
