Charles Herbster Signs the Taxpayer Protection Pledge

Charles W Herbster, a farmer and candidate for Nebraska governor, has signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge in his bid for the Republican nomination for Governor of Nebraska. The pledge, sponsored by Americans for Tax Reform, commits signers to oppose all efforts to increase taxes.  

Americans for Tax Reform offers the pledge to all candidates for state and federal office. Fourteen governors and over 1,000 state legislators have signed the pledge. 

Herbster is committed to helping Nebraska farms and small businesses by creating a new consumption-based tax system to ease the burden on farms and small businesses currently being affected by Nebraska’s high property taxes. By signing the pledge, Herbster has assured the people of Nebraska that taxes will not go up under hm. 

“It is time for Nebraska to completely rehaul the system. States like South Dakota have implemented a FAIR Tax System that works for everyone. The creation of a new consumption-based tax system will rebuild those forgotten communities and restore the heart of our state.,” he said. 

“I have been eager to go on the record opposing tax increases of any kind on the people of Nebraska. Citizens are taxed too much and get less and less for their tax dollars every day.” stated Herbster. “What Americans for Tax Reform has done to advance sound fiscal policies both nationally and in the states is critical to holding the line against the out-of-control Biden administration spending.” 

By signing the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, Herbster pledges to take Nebraska in a new direction and prioritize the well-being of working families over unnecessary state spending and taxes.  

Before the primary, ATR will publish a more detailed evaluation of each Republican candidate’s record and positions on taxes and government spending.

“By signing the Pledge, Charles Herbster has demonstrated that he understands the problems of hardworking taxpayers in Nebraska because Democratic candidates in Nebraska have made it clear they will continue to pursue a higher tax and spend agenda that grows government and increases the burden of state spending on taxpayers.” Norquist continued.  

The taxpayer protection pledge is a public, written commitment by an elected official or candidate to the voters of their state. The pledge is a commitment to oppose and vote against any tax increase. All candidates for federal and state office are offered the pledge each election cycle since 1986.
