Remember this promise?
"I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes."

In light of the S-CHIP bill Congress is looking to pass, which contains a tax increase that would disproportionately hurt the very constituency President Obama vowed to protect, Americans for Tax Reform sent this letter to President Obama reminding him of his commitment and urging him not to break it:
Dear President Obama:
 
In recent weeks, Americans for Tax Reform has called on Members of Congress to refrain from putting you in a position to have to decide whether to renege on your commitment to the American people that nobody making less than $250,000 would see their tax burden go up under your Administration.
 
Unfortunately, Congressional leaders have already put before their colleagues, and the House of Representatives has already passed, a tax increase in the State Children’s Health Insurance Reauthorization Act of 2009 that would disproportionately burden the very constituency you vowed to protect from higher taxes. …
