ATR Applauds Giuliani’s Call for Corporate Rate Cut
Current combined rate of 39 percent puts US at major competitive disadvantage

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Americans for Tax Reform president Grover Norquist issued the following statement today in response to presidential candidate Rudolph Giuliani’s call for a cut in the corporate tax rate to 25 percent:

“The United States has the world’s second highest corporate tax rate, behind only that of Japan. The current combined federal and state rate of 39 percent puts Americans at a major competitive disadvantage considering the average corporate rate of OECD countries is 25 percent. Americans for Tax Reform will work toward an eventual rate closer to that of Ireland’s 12.5 percent, and Giuliani’s call for taking the rate down to 25 percent is a significant step in the right direction.”
