Subject: H.R. 6220, the Green Jobs Improvement Act

Dear Congressman:

On behalf of Americans for Tax Reform (ATR), I am writing to express this organization’s strong support for H.R. 2026, the Green Jobs Improvement Act. The Green Jobs Improvement Act corrects the flawed “Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007” and is vital to a majority of workers across the nation.

The “Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007” only allows union members to be eligible for training grant funding. This provision stifles competition by excluding non-union workers, giving those affiliated with labor organizations an unfair advantage over a majority of the Americans.

As a result, millions of workers will find it nearly impossible to survive in this turbulent economy and will not be able to meet the growing demand for more energy efficient technology. The original goal of the Green Jobs Act was to support workforce training that would advance and promote energy efficient technology. How can we possibly succeed in meeting this goal if we do not allow private sector construction workers the ability to use these crucial training resources?

Your strong leadership is needed to correct the injustice facing over 86% of workers, who currently do not have access to the preparation necessary for progression in the “green job” market. Implementing the Green Jobs Improvement Act will send a loud and clear message to the American people that we support, encourage, and reward all members of the workforce. Americans for Tax Reform urges you to support this legislation.

ATR endorses and supports the Green Jobs Act and commends Rep. Kline for his leadership on this important issue. For more information or to become a co-sponsor, please contact Casey Buboltz at 5-2271 or [email protected] or contact Brian Johnson in my office at [email protected].

Onward,
