In the lead up to the 2022 mid-term elections, Americans for Tax Reform, together with the American Vapor Manufacturers Association, The Consumer Advocates for Smoke-free Alternatives Association, and the Iowa Vape Association, embarked on the 2022 “We Vape We Vote!” national bus tour.
Organized to remind candidates of the proven political power of the 20 million Americans who use reduced risk alternatives to help them quit smoking, the tour hosted 14 rallies at vape shops in 11 states, commencing in Arizona, and concluding in Florida, with specific focus placed on competitive districts and races where candidates had a strong, on-the-record position for or against harm reduction. Numerous candidates and elected officials, including Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Illinois State Senator Steve Stadelman (D-34), attended events held in their district. Dozens of personal testimonies were also recorded as people shared their story of how vaping helped them quit smoking, and helped save their lives.
