In Connecticut, a slew of candidates are vying for the Senate seat in the 2010 midterm election and there is now an official pledge-signer in that race. Republican State Senator Sam Caligiuri, who is running in the GOP Primary, recently signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge

The incumbent in the contest, Democratic Senator Chris Dodd, has a less than encouraging record when it comes to defending the interests of the taxpayer according to various organizations who specialize in keeping track of these legislative matters. The Senator’s lifetime rating from ATR is an abysmal 5.7% over 14 years in office.

State Senator Caligiuri becomes the first candidate, of either party, in the 2010 Connecticut Senate election to put his name on the pledge and make a strong commitment to the taxpayer that he will do what is in their best interest. We here at ATR strongly encourage all candidates in the Connecticut Senate race, as well as all candidates for Federal office to sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.
