New Yorkers: Ask Dede Scozzafava to Sign the Taxpayer Protection
Americans for Tax Reform recently released a Twitter petition to ask Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava to sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge in her race to become the next representative of New York’s 23rd Congressional District.
Scozzafava, Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman, and Democrat Bill Owens are running in a special election to replace former Rep. John McHugh (R-N.Y.), who recently resigned to become Secretary of the Army in the Obama Administration.
While Hoffman signed the Pledge in August, Scozzafava has publicly stated that she does not intend to sign the “no tax” pledge. Taxpayers should take this opportunity to express their concerns by signing on to the following petition:
Taxpayers are faced with another dilemma in the special election to replace former Congressman John McHugh (R) of New York’s 23rd Congressional District. There are three candidates competing to replace McHugh: Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman, liberal GOPer Dede Scozzafava, and Democrat Bill Owens. Of the three, Doug Hoffman is the only candidate to sign ATR’s Taxpayer Protection Pledge. It’s a simple 60 word pledge that says the signer will vote against and oppose any and all attempts to raise income taxes on the federal level.NY Republican Party leaders chose the antithesis of a limited-government candidate in Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava. Her voting record and public statements scream big-government liberal. She’s openly supportive of Obama’s failed “stimulus” package, earmarks, and has voted to raise or extend taxes 190 times. Now she says she won’t protect taxpayers by signing the “no tax” Pledge.American taxpayers are looking for relief from government and need candidates that understand that.
