Laurence Verga, a candidate in Virginia’s 5th Congressional District, recently signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge in his 2010 midterm election campaign.

Verga is competing in the GOP Primary for the opportunity to unseat freshman Democrat Tom Perriello. Cook Political Report classifies the seat as an R+5 on the PVI index, making it one of a handful of Congressional districts held by a Democrat, in a Republican leaning area.

As a pledge signer, Mr. Verga has made a commitment to the taxpayers in Virginia that he will fight to ensure that their taxes are not increased. Congressman Perriello is not a pledge signer, but ATR encourages him and all candidates seeking Federal office to sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.
