ATR Internships

Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) has several internships available for 2007 (and beyond).

ATR interns have the opportunity to observe politics first hand and work directly on policy issues, as they are assigned to and work side by side with our staff.

Interns are very important to the ATR team, working on important projects such as the Taxpayer Protection Pledge (both federal and state candidates pledge not to raise taxes), the American Shareholders Association (focusing on eliminating the Death Tax, expanding Lifetime Savings Accounts and Retirement Savings Accounts, social security reform), writing press releases and working with state coalitions across the country.

There is a variety of other projects interns work on, including the Ronald Reagan Legacy Project , which is the national grassroots effort to name landmarks after former President Reagan, and the Cost of Government Day , a report identifying and calculating government spending as a cost to taxpayers.

Every year, young men and women who worked as interns here go on to do wonderful things in Washington and in state politics as well, using the skills they developed here to further their educational goals and careers. In general, interns must be organized, responsible, independent, and effective under deadlines. Exceptional written and oral skills are a must.

The positions can be taken for credit through the applicant's home university or college, coinciding with spring, summer, and fall semester dates.

ATR accepts applications from undergraduate and graduate students of all majors . However, applicants should have a strong interest in tax reform and economic policy. Part-time hours are available; full-time associates receive a $250/week stipend, with part-time scale varying. The deadline for spring applications is November 15; summer applications is March 15; fall applications is June 15.

ATR is Metro accessible-located within four blocks from both Farragut North (red line, L Street ) and Farragut West (orange and blue lines, 18 th Street ).

To apply: please send a resume, a short writing sample (no more than five pages), a cover letter with your interest in ATR outlined, and three references/ letters of recommendation by mail, fax, or email to:
