As radical liberals continue to push for job-killing cap & tax provisions, designed to hike energy costs and hurt working American families, Americans for Tax Reform has been continually pointing out the effects these have had in other countries.
How in Spain for every "green job" created, 2.2 regular jobs were lost, and only one in 10 of the newly created green jobs became a permanent job. How in Germany per-worker subsidies as high as 175,000 € (US $ 240,000), and whatever jobs are created by renewable energy promotion will vanish as soon as government support is terminated. How in New Zealand it would be cheaper for the New Zealand taxpayer to pay every single Tiwai Point worker and contractor $200,000 per annum for the rest of their lives to simply stay home.
Now, new data from the United Kingdom suggests that "Household gas and electricity bills are expected to rocket fourfold to nearly £5,000 ($8,000) a year by the end of the decade to meet Government-imposed green targets. And the price heavy industry will have to pay by 2020 is so high that energy-dependent firms could be wiped out, causing thousands of job losses".
Of course, all of this was denied at the time legislation went into effect, but, surprise surprise, "Officials at regulator Ofgem now privately admit that a report they issued only last year severely underestimates the cost of cutting carbon emissions"
Don't be fooled. "Green energy" will destroy businesses, wreck the economy, and put millions of americans out of work. Let's not make the same mistake that these other countires are now paying the consequences for.
