New York's 23rd district has its first pledge signer. Mr. Doug Hoffman, a candidate with the Conservative Party, recently made clear his commitment to his potential constituents and signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.
The district, which will be left vacant if Rep. John McHugh's appointment as Secretary of the Army is confirmed, is rated as R+1 by Cook Political Report.
As a pledge signer, Mr. Hoffman has made a commitment to the taxpayers in New Yorkthat he will fight to ensure that their taxes are not increased. Neither Congressman HcHugh nor any of the other candidates in the race have signed the pledge, but we here at ATR encourage Rep. McHughand all candidates for Federal office to follow suit and pledge to the taxpayers that they will do their part in fighting on behalf of the interests of those who elect them.
