Rep. Mohorovic Awarded Friend of the Taxpayer
WASHINGTON - Americans
for Tax Reform (ATR) congratulates Representative Joe Mohorovic of
New Mexico for winning the Friend of the Taxpayer Award sponsored
by ATR. Every month, ATR selects one state-wide or state legislative
official to award for his action on behalf of taxpayers.
For the month of May, Rep.
Mohorovic was awarded Friend of the Taxpayer for his un-wavering commitment
to the Taxpayer Protection Pledge: he voted against HB 139 and all
other efforts to raise taxes in New Mexico during the 2002 legislative
session.
"Awarding Rep. Mohorovic
'Friend of the Taxpayer' proves that there are heroes to be found
in New Mexico," said Grover Norquist, President of ATR. "Taxpayers
have reason to believe that their taxes and the size of their state
government will decrease. Rep. Mohorovic is working very hard to protect
the pocketbooks of New Mexico taxpayers."
ATR has selected a winner
of the Friend of the Taxpayer Award every month since January, 1997
- the list is available at our offices.
