Social Security Fact of the Day #28
Social Security cannot afford to pay all of the benefits it has promised. Beginning in 2017, it will run cash deficits that get bigger every year.

Conventional wisdom is that older Americans, especially seniors, are highly-opposed to personal accounts in Social Security. That is simply not true, at least of likely voters. A recent poll by Fox News demonstrates that a majority of all age groups of likely voters support personal accounts. 56% of seniors support personal accounts in Social Security. Three in five voters of all ages support personal accounts. Gen Y voters (those under age 30 and most affected by personal accounts) are the most supportive at 76%.

Social Security has a problem, and we need to fix it. Personal accounts are the solution.
