CFA supports Congressman Jeff Flake's amendment to the massive spending package promoted under the guise of "stimulus" which would strike funding for Amtrak. From the vote alert:
Granting more funding for Amtrak, which has long been a drain on taxpayer wallets, loses $2 billion a year subsidizing food and has failed to become self-sufficient in over forty years, is irresponsible and an insult to taxpayers who are struggling to make ends meet. The stimulative benefit of throwing more money into a bottomless pit is more than questionable. The Center for Fiscal Accountability will continue to oppose the massive spending package under the guise of “stimulus” in its entirety, but encourages members to support Congressman Flake’s amendment to H.R. 1.
