Yesterday, Carly Fiorina appeared on Fox Business News and took a moment during the interview to discuss the importance of the Taxpayer Protection Pledge. California taxpayers should be encouraged by what Fiorina had to say because as she explained her core campaign principle is no new taxes - something that dramatically separates her from primary opponent Tom Campbell. Fiorina is running in the GOP primary against Chuck DeVore, another Pledge signer, and Tom Campbell for the opportunity to face Democrat incumbent Sen. Barbara Boxer in November.
While Fiorina and DeVore have taken the Pledge never to raise their constituents’ taxes, Campbell has flat out refused to make such a stand. While still claiming to be a fiscal conservative, Tom Campbell has supported a number of tax hikes over the last several years as both a gubernatorial candidate and Senate candidate. Primary voters should take that into consideration as they vote on June 8th.
