Today, three candidates for the U.S. Senate Republican nomination in California will face off on KTKZ at 12pm PT/3pm ET.

Two of the three candidates have already signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge including Assemblyman Chuck DeVore and businesswoman Carly Fiorina. Former Congressman Tom Campbell has yet to sign the Pledge.

Both DeVore and Fiorina have taken strong stances on taxes. While in the state legislature, DeVore signed the state version of the Pledge and chaired the Taxpayer Protection Caucus in the Assembly. One of the first tasks undertaken by Fiorina as a candidate was to sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge. Fiorina said:
I am proud to have signed the Americans for Tax Reform Taxpayer Protection Pledge today as one of my first acts as a candidate for the United States Senate. As a fiscal conservative, it was a no brainer for me. I will not vote for new or higher taxes. Period. Tax, spend and borrow is not a governing philosophy, it’s a cycle of dependency and it’s one that must be broken.
To see the candidates discuss the Pledge more in their own words, check out DeVore's video and Carly's video here.

Today’s debate should be an interesting one. If you tune in, let us know your thoughts by leaving a comment below!

If California can elect a Republican to the US Senate, there may be high hopes that this country is finally starting to turn around. I'll have to make sure I watch that debate!

I will be really interested to hear the candidates thoughts on the current crisis in CA; what they have proposed in the past to get through the budget shortfall; and how that experience can translate for them if they should be elected to the US Senate in November.

Tom Campbell a Fiscal Conservative!?! He just said he would raise airline taxes for airline security. Little things like this are pathetic excuses to raise taxes. Little things like this lead to crazy debt levels.
