Marc Rosson Signs Taxpayer Protection Pledge

Posted by Amir Iljazi on Friday, December 11th, 2009, 10:48 AM PERMALINK

Marc Rosson, a candidate for Arkansas’ 4th Congressional District, has recently signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge in his 2010 bid for the U.S. House of Representatives.

Marc Rosson is running against Democrat incumbent Mike Ross, who has been in office since 2001. In his more than eight years in the Congress, Ross has attained a 24% lifetime rating from Americans for Tax Reform, nothing to be very excited about if you’re a taxpayer in Arkansas’ 4th congressional district.

By signing the pledge, Marc Rosson has shown the taxpayers in Arkansas that he is up to the challenge of fighting against higher taxes and out of control spending that has shouldered a massive burden upon the taxpayers in Arkansas’ 4th Congressional district. ATR encourages all candidates running for Federal office to sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.

Dirk Beveridge becomes First Signer in Illinois-08 Contest

Posted by Amir Iljazi on Wednesday, December 9th, 2009, 1:05 PM PERMALINK

Dirk Beveridge recently became the first candidate in Illinois’ 8th Congressional District to sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.

Beveridge is running in the GOP primary for the opportunity to take on Democratic incumbent Melissa Bean. Cook Political Report ranks the district as an R+1 on the Partisan Voter Index (PVI). Bean was elected in 2004, and during her time as a Congresswoman she has amassed a 34.6% lifetime record from ATR; certainly not something the constituents could be thankful for from their representative.

As a pledge signer, Mr. Beveridge has made a commitment to the voters in Illinois that he will fight to ensure that their taxes are not increased. Congresswoman Bean is not a pledge signer, we here at ATR encourage all candidates in the Illinois-08 contest to sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge. The full press release from ATR is directly below.

Dirk Beveridge (R-Ill.) signs the Taxpayer Protection Pledge
Congressional candidate promises to protect taxpayers’ wallets

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Dirk Beveridge, a Republican running in 8th Congressional District in Illinois, recently signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge sponsored by Americans for Tax Reform (ATR). The Pledge commits signers to “oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses … and oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates.”

ATR has offered the Pledge to all candidates for federal office since 1987. To date, 33 U.S. senators and 172 members of the U.S. House of Representatives have signed the Pledge. Additionally, seven Governors and over 1,100 state legislators have signed the Pledge.

“After the passage of the so-called “Stimulus Package,” better known as the Pelosi-Obama-Reid Spending Give-Away, Americans are desperately searching for candidates and politicians that will protect their livelihoods and put their wallets ahead of the federal government’s coffers,” said Grover Norquist, president of ATR.

“By signing the Pledge, Dirk Beveridge demonstrates that he understands the problems of hard-working taxpayers nationwide, but especially the taxpayers of Illinois’ 8th district.”

“I challenge all candidates for federal office to make the same commitment to taxpayers by signing the Taxpayer Protection Pledge today,” Norquist continued.

Copies of the Pledge are available at www.atr.org or by calling (122) 785-0266

Posted by Amir Iljazi on Tuesday, December 8th, 2009, 3:54 PM PERMALINK

Craig Lake, a candidate running for the United States House of Representatives in Nevada’s 1st Congressional district recently signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge

Mr. Lake is challenging Democratic incumbent Congresswoman Shelley Berkley. Berkley has been in Congress since 1999, and her lifetime rating from ATR in her tenure as a representative of the citizens of Nevada-01 has been a very poor 20.4%, certainly no friend to the taxpayer.

By signing the pledge, Craig has shown the taxpayers in Nevada that he stands with them, and will fight against growing deficits and wasteful government spending. Rep. Berkley is not a pledge signer, but we here at ATR strongly encourage her and ALL candidates for Federal office to sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.

Conrad Reynolds, a candidate running in Arkansas for the United States Senate in the 2010 Special Election, recently signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.

Mr. Reynolds is seeking the GOP Nomination to run against incumbent Democrat Blanche Lincoln. Lincoln, who has served in the Senate since 1998, has a less than exemplary record when it comes to defending the taxpayer. ATR’s lifetime rating for Senator Blanche Lincoln is a porous 15%; and in her few years in the House of Representatives she never had a higher than 40% rating. Reynolds is one of a number of pledge signers in the race that includes Curtis Coleman, Tom Cox, and Gilbert Baker.

By signing the pledge, Mr. Reynolds has shown the taxpayers of Arkansas know that he stands with them. Blanche Lincoln is not a signer, but ATR urges Senator Lincoln and all candidates for federal office to sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.

Christine O'Donnell becomes First Pledge Singer in Delaware Senate Race

Posted by Amir Iljazi on Wednesday, November 11th, 2009, 2:05 PM PERMALINK

The 2010 Senate Special Election to fill the seat formerly held by the current Vice-President just got its first pledge signer. Christine O’Donnell recently signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge as a candidate for the United States Senate.

Joe Biden held the seat since the 1970’s, but now O’Donnell is looking to replace the interim appointment made just after the 2008 election. Biden was not a pledge signer, and he has carried his anti-taxpayer philosophy into the Obama Administration. O’Donnell is running in the GOP Primary for the chance to compete in the 2010 General election.

As a pledge signer, Christine O’Donnell has promised the taxpayers in Delaware that if elected, she will represent their interests. ATR encourages all candidates for Delaware Senate, which may include Beau Biden (son of the Vice President) to sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, as we do all candidates running for elected office; so that the taxpayers can see whose side their representatives are really on.
