PrintATR to Members of Congress Planning to Vote Yes on "Stimulus": Will You At Least Read the Bill?
Alarmed by the haste and opacity Congressional leadership resorted to in ramming the massive spending package promoted under the guise of stimulus through Congress, ATR issued a challenge to members who intended to vote for the final package.
We asked them to certify to their constituents that they would at least have read the bill by the time the vote is cast. Here's what they were asked to sign and send back to ATR:
I, _____________________________, commit to the taxpayers of the (___________________ district of the) State of _______________________, that my vote in favor of the conference report on H.R. 1 will be an informed vote, because I will have read the full text of the bill and the conference report by the time I cast my vote.
