ATR Congratulates Judge Leslie Southwick on his Confirmation by the Senate
Calls on Senate to allow up or down vote on all nominees
Washington, DC- Upon the confirmation of Judge Leslie Southwick to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals today by the US Senate on a vote of 59-38, Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform, released the following statement:
“I want to congratulate Judge Southwick on his confirmation, he will make an excellent jurist. The bi-partisan support for Judge Southwick is a testament to his character and ability. He was put through some of the cruelest partisan attacks any public figure has had to endure and he did so with grace and dignity.
“While we celebrate Judge Southwick’s victory, we move forward as well. There are still nominations in the pipeline that require Senate action, as the Constitution demands. All judicial nominees deserve what Judge Southwick fought so hard for, and up or down vote on the Senate floor. We hope the vote on Judge Southwick is just the first of many votes to come."
